Babe of the Week – Stacey Keibler

This babe got the call of fame by appearing on TVs everywhere half naked kicking ass. Fake or not, look at those legs and try to say something bad. Keibler is edible just as much as those cookies that those dorfs make.

Stacey Keibler started her career as a wrestler and dancer for wrestling companies. She was eye candy and always will be. She has had several nick names in the wrestling business but the one that sticks out would have to be Miss Hancock. She retired from the wrestling rings in 2006 to move onto other roles in her life. While within the wrestling business, she lived with other wrestling ladies and I’m sure I know what all the guys are thinking.

After leaving the wrestling business in 2006, she took on a role on “Dancing with the Stars” and placed third. Keibler was always known for her 42 inch long legs and this TV show was the perfect way to show them off. Originally she was supposed to return to the wrestling world after this appearance but other offers made her re-think her career. She signed onto a development deal with ABC and has been making appearances in minor roles all over TV. Keibler has appeared on the George Lopez show as well as October Road.

Keibler has been fairly quiet recently and is trying to develop her acting career. We have seen her in Stuff and Maxim for her babe looks and legs. She has said no twice to playboy and its breaking everyone heart. Were sure we have not seen the last of her legs so let’s hope her acting skills start to improve.

Kanda Sushi, 2045, rue Bishop, Montreal

The appetite for Sushi in Montreal is definitely a growing one, and many Sushi shops around Montreal have begun to pop up.  Many of them are of the cheap and takeout variety, which is fine if you are in a rush. For a true dining experience, Kanda is a prefered location.

To start, the atmosphere of Kanda is definitely a step above any of the other asian dining experiences around the Concordia campus where it’s most popular franchise is located. Dark hardwood is the theme and everything is kept very neat and propper. It compares very well against the other asian experiences around it which trend more towards a fast food quality.  The service is no different though. Kanda is often very busy, and the serving staff, while working extremely hard, will usually require alot of time to get around to your order, and will sometimes get it wrong. They are very humble though, and if you tell them they got your order wrong, they will gladly fix it for you.

Even if they do provide you the wrong meal though, it is an all-you-can-eat experience, so you can just eat it down anyway as long as it suits you. With the quality of the sushi, generally you’ll be glad to just eat it. Very little on the menu misses the mark, and they do have quite a bit of choice. I can never say I’ve complained about the quality of anything served, and you can really try a little bit of everything in one sit down, but you’ll probably need to come back a few times to truly enjoy every piece.

The only down side is the price. The bare bones price for a Saturday night will usually run you just over $30.00. If you are with a good sized group, they will generally do the asian thing too and add everyone’s bills together, so doing the math can get messy. In my experience, if you’re just in the mood for some quick sushi, $30.00 is alot to pay, even if it is all you can eat. It’s worth it on occasion for the quality and experience of it, but I might be more inclined to go to a lesser sushi place, pay nearly half the price, and still get more than enough sushi to my taste.

In conclusion, Kanda is currently my favorite sushi place in Montreal just due to the quality and consistency of their sushi, and the added benefit that it’s all you can eat. I don’t recommend it though if you already have a sushi place that you find you can rely on and might have a cheaper price point.

Reviewer’s note: While I commented on the quality of the sushi, I am a Montrealer, and have never tried Sushi outside of Montreal. People who have tried Sushi from Vancouver or Tokyo can take their elitist Sushi opinions and go try it for yourself.

Ye Olde Orchard Pub & Grill, 1189 Rue de la Montagne, Montréal

If you’re looking for a pub thats a little more low key than Hurley’s or McKibbins, this is the pub for you. Ye Olde Orchard is one of the smaller Irish themed pubs located Downtown, but that doesn’t mean it is any less of a location than it’s competition.
Due to it’s location on De La Montagne, Ye Olde Orchard doesn’t have the same kind of walk up business as other locations on Bishop or Crescent. This makes for a roomier and more laid back pub where you can just relax and enjoy company rather than feel crowded. Still it can develop a nice party atmosphere on some nights. Live bands on weekends and major nights help ad to the mood and can really get the place hopping. Since it’s out of the way, it also gets much less business from fresh faced 18 year olds. This also means a generally older crowd, stretching into those in their golden years. The end result is it’s a very laid back pub, good for listening to some good music with friends over a few pints.
The pints, and their prices in general, are what you would expect of a pub in the downtown core. Local brews are $6.50 and imports are $8.00.  Food is also of an acceptable price, and they have  a pretty good variety, from standard pub fare to some more specialized Irish dishes. None of it is really worth flocking to, but if you plan to go to a pub and eat while you’re there, this is probably one of your best bets for both value and taste.
All together, it’s easy to have a good time at the Orchard. They don’t blast crappy music all night so it’s easy to keep a conversation going without yelling yourself hoarse, but when the band comes on the place can really get rocking. It’s not exactly a party location, but a good pub all the same.
